Betty Ding 修华 is a r&b singer-songwriter based in Boston. Growing up in a bilingual and bicultural environment, she hopes to bridge the east and west through fusing Chinese music with r&b, neosoul, and gospel music. With an introspective lyrical writing style, her music explores themes of peace, spirituality, and healing. Through her music, she hopes to reclaim her culture, reinterpret traditions and push the boundaries of Chinese music.
Betty has performed at the 2024 Boston Jazz Festival and Soul.stice Series at Boston Commons hosted by BAMS Fest. She is also the recipient of a $4500 Grant by the Cambridge Arts Council. Betty is currently a forth year Voice Performance and Contemporary Writing and Production student at Berklee College of Music with a minor in Africana Studies. She is also the singer and band leader of the East West Collective. In 2018, she was also a contestant on China Central Television’s Avenue of Stars.
